Lola, Thanks so much for your insightful reply.

You are so right about the Tea Party putting its head in the sand by denying the realities of "cultural financial interdependency." And, of course, the assimilation of immigrant cultures in the US is part of that interdependency. Globalism is here to stay.

In the end, as you so eloquently put, there is "no going back."

Excellent commentary on the Tea Party movement..I see the Tea Party movement as an attempt to stop the wave of progressive change that is already here in America(and in the world). Supporters of the Tea Party movement refuse to see the new forces of progress in the country and seek to regain a glorious past that has been lost, according to them . The America they yearn for, no longer exists ; there is no going back. It is really a new world where global forces and cultural financial interdependency is the order of the day. For the country to prosper and flourish, we need to accept that for the US to continue to be competitive in a globalized society , it needs to continue to embrace innovation, welcome immigrants who have much to offer, have a prosperous middle class, continue to work with other countries to ensure peace and stability in the world , and above all, continue to foster an environmment of tolerance and freedom that has made the country the envy of the world.

Mahilena, Thanks for your comments on "Tea Party Patriots, Part II" I agree with you that capitalism "does not make people free," and that "it enslaves them. " Capitalism, as you so eloquently state, is nothing more than "economic Darwinianism," a world in which only the "fittest" survive.

Peace

Extreme Capitalism economic Darwinism > ONLY THE FITTEST SURVIVE. Those who cannot OR DON'T WANT TO compete MUST NOT SURVIVE to reproduce; they must be expelled from the gene pool.
Thank you for writing this. I was very concerned upon reading the NYT's coverage of the Tea Party today... I'm glad to know that there are others out there who aren't too thrilled with their ideals.
