We live in a country which supposedly guarantees freedom of religion and free speech. If the country guarantees free speech, it MUST, by inference, guaranty freedom of though, because thinking precedes speaking.

I have long thought it totally INSANE that the law, in the United States of America, can at the same time legally deem suicide a crime. In essence, by doing so, it is dictating a substantial religious choice to all citizens. Citizens of the United States must, by the U.S. legal system, accept that suicide is criminal behavior.

BUT WAIT, WHAT IF THEY DO NOT BELIEVE IN GOD, OR BELIEVE THAT GOD WOULD, IN THE INSTANCE OF THEIR SEVERE PREDICAMENT, DEEM SUICIDE A CRIMINAL ACT? WHAT IF THEY BELIEVE GOD IS MORE COMPASSIONATE THAN SUCH DICTUM WOULD INDICATE?

The United States Government is, therefore, in a MOST TOTALITARIAN WAY, telling its citizens that they MUST THINK A CERTAIN WAY OR THEY ARE CRIMINALS. This is one of the greatest paradoxes in U.S. Law.

Another similar paradox is the one which infers: "We are essentially a Christian nation. Christ said "Do not kill; love your neighbors and your enemies." We believe what Christ said when it's convenient for us to believe it. Whether we believe killing is permissible and can be rationalized depends on numerous factors. And it's okay that we killed innocent children and their mothers in a country where we declared an "illegal war" (based on GROSSLY INCORRECT INFORMATION, WHICH HAD IN FACT BEEN COERCED BY PRESSURE FROM INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES) -- because we were looking for terrorists when this happened, and our missile just accidentally landed a few miles off target. HOWEVER, if a foreign nation were to carry out such action against our country (U.S.) because they stated they believed we were harboring radicals with a terrorist agenda against THEIR COUNTRY AND RELIGION, WE WOULD GO APE-____ and consider nuk-ing them.

I whole heartedly agree with leaving people the choice to do what they want to with their lives -- particularly in these kind of cases -- Trust they they know themselves well enough to make this kind of decision -- and either get out of the way or put your attention on what you do want people -- STOP getting in the way of what others choose to do. It just causes more Drama then there needs to be.....
